What Must I Believe to be Saved?

Full text of gospel tract:

We live in a time of much confusion about the things of God. His truth is being turned from on every hand, and is being replaced by man's opinion and wisdom. Millions of souls are being swept into false systems of religion. The only way of deliverance from these systems and from God's eternal judgment is found in God's Word.
However, we need more than just knowledge in our heads; to be saved requires faith in one's heart: "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10).

"What must I believe to be saved?"

This is answered by God's revelation of truth—the Bible—in Acts 16:31: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." To believe means to trust, put faith in, adhere to, receive. Personal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ eternally saves the soul. To believe God concerning His way of salvation includes many wonderful truths revealed in the Word of God. Here are a few of them:
Believe that the Bible is the Word of God. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).
Believe that we are sinners by nature and by practice. "There is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10). "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12).
Believe that God loves us. "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
Believe that God gave His Son for us. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Believe that Christ died for our sins. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3).
Believe that Christ bore our sins on the cross. "Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" (1 Peter 2:24).
Believe that Christ rose from among the dead. "He was buried, and … rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:4).
Believe that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). "Without shedding of blood is no remission" (Hebrews 9:22).
Believe that "Ye must be born again" (John 3:7). "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).
Believe that faith in Christ gives eternal life. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).
Believe that all who reject Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross, will receive everlasting punishment. "But the fearful, and unbelieving … and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8).

The Invitation of Christ

"Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). "Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37).

Will You Accept the Invitation?

It is our earnest prayer that you will go to the Bible and see if these things are so, and believe them with all your heart. Only thus can one be spared the delusion of man's false religion and God's coming judgment. "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" (Proverbs 16:25). When you believe on Christ, you will be saved forever. "I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand" (John 10:28).
"Whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?" (John 11:26).
