Under the Scaffold by Faith Cook

Faith Cook writes an historical novel about Tom, whose life of hardship was typical of the days in which he lived, and has been drawn from many true-life events. He comes into contact with William Grimshaw, the fiery curate of Haworth with a burning desire to teach God’s truth and care for his flock. We see what happens to Tom, living ‘under the scaffold’.
Many, today, associate Haworth with the Bronte sisters, but relatively few know about Grimshaw (1708-63), who was the parish curate seventy years before they came to the village. During his time amazing things happened – more wonderful than anything that happened in the time of the Brontes.
Everything that is written about William Grimshaw, and also of John Wesley and George Whitefield, is completely factual.
