3 Things God Cannot Do

Are there really 3 things that God cannot do? Can't God do everything? Let's take a look at God's own Word to see what He Himself tells us.
1. God Cannot Lie
"Ahh," you say, "yes, I believe that God cannot lie." This may seem rather obvious or even a trick answer, but nevertheless absolutely true. According to God's own Word in Titus 1:2 we see "God, that cannot lie." God, and God alone, can make that claim.2. God Cannot Change
"Oh, sure," you say, "I believe that God cannot change." This is also a rather obvious truth. God tells us in His Word, in Malachi 3:6, "I am the Lord, I change not." This is another characteristic which is unique to God alone.3. God Cannot Allow Sinners into Heaven
"Hmmm," you say, "I'm not so sure about that one. I don't know that I believe that." But, do you know why we know that this is true—absolutely true? Because God Himself tells us, and God cannot lie and God cannot change. So, if God said it, it is true and it is true for all time. Jesus spoke in John 3:3,5 "Verily, verily [truly, truly], I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God…. Verily, verily [truly, truly], I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."You may reasonably question the truthfulness of whatever you hear from men including myself. But what we find in God's Word (the Bible) is absolutely true and true for ever (Psalm 119:89).
Now, if God cannot allow sinners into heaven, this is very bad news for all of us because God also tells us: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). That may be a difficult truth to accept of yourself, but accept it you must. You may have believed that you were pretty good, but you now know that you are a sinner. The Bible says in 1 John 1:10: "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him [God] a liar." Is there more to the story? Is there a way to get to heaven? Let's examine more of God's true words to us.
In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." Jesus explains that there are not many ways to get to heaven. There is one way, and that way is Jesus Himself, because He alone died for our sins: "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Again, we know this is true, because God said it and He doesn't lie and He doesn't change. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Salvation is only through Jesus.
There is an incident recorded in the Bible where a man asked: "What must I do to be saved?" The answer was: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:30,31). You may say, "But, don't I have to do something else?" God gives the answer: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9). God made salvation so plain and so simple.
Simply take God at His word. His Word is eternally true (Psalm 119:160). You now know that you are a sinner; you know that there is no salvation in works; and you know that you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.
"Repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9).
If you have repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, then you may know that you have eternal life. God says in 1 John 5:13: "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life." In the past, you may have hoped that you were going to heaven. Now you may know it!

BAD NEWS FOR GOOD PEOPLE
Jesus said: “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Mark 2:17)You may be surprised to learn that the Bible contains much bad news for people who would consider themselves to be good. The following verses are examples of this:
We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6
There is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. Romans 3:10,11
All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:13
God requireth that which is past. Ecclesiastes 3:15
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. Titus 3:5
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His [God’s] sight. Romans 3:20
God ... now commandeth all men every where to repent. Acts 17:30
Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3
GOOD NEWS FOR BAD PEOPLE
“Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:6)You may be equally surprised to know that there are other Scriptures which show that there is much good news for bad people. Here are a few:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1:15
God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Acts 16:31
Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1
Perhaps you are one of those people who is trying to be good enough to merit heaven when you die. You may be seeking to “do the best you can” or “live by the golden rule.” These things are all well in their place, but we must tell you plainly that the Bible has nothing but bad news for you. Heaven cannot be gained that way. “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23) and are under condemnation and must have Someone to save and justify them. Sinners are unable to save or even help to save themselves.
But if on the other hand you know that you are guilty before God and lost and without a doubt—going to hell—then the Bible surely holds good news for you. Christ Jesus died for you on Calvary’s cross that you might be saved, and He offers a pardon for all your sins. If you will, just as you are, look by faith to Him, you can know the forgiveness of your sins and have the assurance of eternal life.
Jesus said, “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
