A Saviour, Christ the Lord
Full text of gospel tract:
The angel's message announcing the birth of A Saviour was reason for great joy to the world. All through the ages of man's history—from the day sin first entered the world—man awaited the promised coming of A Saviour. God had declared that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15). Now that great anticipated moment had come with the One born of a virgin whose name was called "Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). Jesus is A Saviour, Christ the Lord.
The angel's announcement was to bring joy "to all people"—not just to the shepherds that heard the angel's voice, but to all the world. Jesus Christ did not come to save only a certain group, or class, or race of people. As He was teaching and preaching, some of the Samaritans, who were at enmity with the Jews, believed on Him, saying, He is "THE Saviour of the world" (John 4:42). All the centuries had proven both the need of A Saviour, and the lack of "THE Saviour." No one was able to remove sin and set man free from its consequences, until the Lamb of God came to take away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Only One can say, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:6). Yes, Jesus is THE Saviour.
We learn more about this blessed One from His mother, who declared concerning Him, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God MY Saviour" (Luke 1:46,47). This was He who came in lowly grace, born of a virgin, totally apart from the sinful nature of fallen man. For our salvation, it was needful that THE Saviour could lay one hand upon the divine throne and the other upon poor, fallen humanity, completely satisfying God's claims and man's need. As God incarnate, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the full penalty for sin by His death on the cross. That work of redemption was fully accepted by a holy God in that Jesus was raised from the dead, and is now seated at His Father's right hand in glory.
It was faith in Jesus Christ that enabled Mary to call Him "MY Saviour." Though Jesus has done the saving work, not all people are saved. Many refuse Him. Others try to save themselves through some works that they think will merit God's salvation. Still others do not see the peril of being eternally lost in hell's damnation. Only by a personal trust in the Lord Jesus as MY Saviour can a sinner be saved from his sins (Luke 18:13,14).
Is Jesus YOUR Saviour? The answer is either yes or no. There is no room for maybe, or even hope so. He will be YOUR Saviour when you believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins and was raised again for your justification (Romans 4:24,25). Trust Him now, and be saved forever. Then He will not only be A Saviour born in Bethlehem and THE Saviour of many others, but YOUR Saviour.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
