Have you met the Son of God?
John, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said that the purpose of this Gospel is "that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name." Let's review some of the things he wrote about Jesus.
Have you met the Son of God?
John, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said that the purpose of this Gospel is "that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name." Let's review some of the things he wrote about Jesus.
Why Did He Come?
"For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17).
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness" (John 12:46).
What Did He Do?
"I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep…. As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep" (John 10:11,15).
"And they took Jesus, and led Him away. And He bearing His cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified Him" (John 19:16-18).
What Does He Offer?
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25).
How Can You Receive It?
The answer Jesus gave to Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews and a teacher of Israel who came to Him asking the above question was, "Ye must be born again" (John 3:7). New birth is a necessity for salvation because man by nature is a lost sinner and must be born again by believing on God's Son, Jesus Christ. Nicodemus was a very religious and sincere seeker of truth, but Jesus told him what is true of all, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" (John 3:3).
Won't you, by faith, meet the Lamb of God today and be born again by trusting Him as your Saviour and Lord? "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
