Stand By, Boys! by Klaas Norel

Setting: The Netherlands, 1st February 1953
Summary:  Teenage boys Len and Art with Art’s sister, Coba, and their families live in Zeeland, a part of the Netherlands which had been reclaimed from the sea. Dikes had been built to keep the sea back and everyone thought they were safe. But a combination of high tide and a storm threatens the island. Len and Art become heroes when they sound the alert about a potential breach in the dike on the north side of the island and help with stopping the breach. However, the south dike is broken and half the island is flooded.  Coba also is heroic, rescuing a baby from the floods and almost losing her own life. But will all members of  both families survive?
Message: True safety is found in Christ and even though one may lose their physical life, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ eternal life is assured. Peace is not found in circumstances but is found in Christ.
