Click here to look inside the book

The adventure-packed true story tells of Brother Andrew's journey from humble beginnnings to a worldwide mission to bring Bibles to Christians cut off from the church. As a boy he dreamed of being a spy - undercover behind enemy lines. As a man he found himself undercover for God. Brother Andrew was his name, and for decades his life story , recounted in God's Smuggler, has awed and inspired millions. This bestseller tells of the young Dutch factory worker's incredible efforts to transport Bibles across closed borders - and the miraculous ways in which God provided for him every step of the way.  This updated edition contains a new prologue and a complete new chapter by Andrew and his original co-authors John and Elizabeth Sherrill, in which he reflects on his ministry. It includes the revelation that the book was required reading in the KGB, and introduces Andrew's latest challenge, taking the gospel to Islam.

Elisha: God's Messenger of Grace by Mrs OF Walton

Summary: While the young farmer followed his oxen and plow across the field, the old prophet walked up to him, took off his cape and cast it over the shoulders of young Elisha. Then he walked on without speaking a word. Why did he do that? Elisha understood. God was calling him to leave eveything. He was to leave his farm, his family and his friends to follow the prophet and become God's messenger of grace to those in need.

This excellent book takes the reader down the dusty roads of Israel in the time of Elisha. Walk down the dusty roads of Israel with Elisha and see the land and the people as he saw them. Learn how God used him to show grace to the wayward people He loved. Much fascinating historical and geographic information of the era is included in this narrative that teaches spiritual lessons as it informs.

Dannie of Cedar Cliffs by Christmas Carol Kauffman

Author's Description: The story of Dannie was given voluntarily from his own lips, with the sole desire that his friends and his posterity profit by his mistakes and successes. It was told to me with keen wit, drollery, and pleasantry and again with seriousness, even genuine solemnity. It gripped me with the conviction that others too might enjoy the same. His children, his neighbours, and some of his closest friends sanctioned the publication of this story.

My motive for writing this bibliographical narrative is threefold: to portray early Mennonite life, to show what part a layman can have in the progress and up building of the church, and to preserve it for my own children and others of this generation the story of heroic struggles of the fathers of the past generation in providing for us today the institutions which at present are so much a part of the life of the church.

The character qualities and Christian virtues depicted in this life story are as interesting as fiction, but more refreshing because the story is true. The life story of Daniel Martin and his wife Savilla.

The Bible in the Wall (translated by HJD)

Summary: True story of Antonio who rejected the Bible and determined to destroy it. Read how this very Bible was saved and later used to bring him to Christ and begin a revival.  This book is the true story of a man who repeatedly rejects the gift of a Bible, which God, in turn, repeatedly brings back across his path. The story is set in the beautiful Swiss Alps and northern Italy, in the 1800s. Amy Carmichael: Let the Little Children Come by Lois Hoadley Dick

Click here to look inside the book

Summary: Converted to Christ at sixteen, Amy Carmichael worked in street missions for several years before serving for two years as a missionary to Japan.

At twenty-eight, she left for India, with high hopes of spreading the good news of Christ to the Indian people.

The year was 1895, and Amy did not know she was about to encounter a practice that would revolutionize her life and ministry. A custom of the time - later prohibited by law - permitted five- and six-year-old children to be "married to the gods" and thus launched into a life of prostitution.

Amy was horrified and heartbroken. She saw the beautiful Indian children as jewels of the King of kings, and she determined to rescue as many as possible. She and her co-workers would provide a safe, healthy, Christ-centered home for them instead. There she could shape and polish their lives for the Master's use.

God richly blessed Amy's efforts and sent more and more of His "jewels" into her care. This is the story of her significant and remarkable work.

Alone in London by Hesba Stretton

Click here to look inside the book

Review: Alone in London follows the lives of two people, and a third is intertwined with them. Mr. Oliver is an old man whose hasty words years ago had driven away his only surviving child. His health and faculties are deteriorating, but when he finds a precious little girl abandoned outside his shop, he is more than willing to take her in. When he finds the note in her pocket identifying her as his granddaughter, he is anxious to do what he can for her, and is delighted at the thought of being reconciled with his daughter.

Tony is an orphan who has been living wherever he can, and was captivated by Dolly, Mr. Oliver's granddaughter, when he saw her outside the shop. Even though he had nothing of his own, he volunteered to take care of her if Mr. Oliver should refuse to take her. Mr. Oliver gave him a place to sleep under a counter in his tiny shop, and Tony came every day to see little Dolly. He noticed that Mr. Oliver's eyesight and memory was failing, and he began to help him get his shop going in the morning, and remind him of necessary things. He especially liked to hear Mr. Oliver tell of his Master, the Lord Jesus. Tony had never heard of such a wonderful employer, and wondered if he could work for him sometime. When Mr. Oliver's sister came to visit, she was appalled that her grandniece was associating with a barefoot beggar, and sent Tony away, and he was alone in London again. We follow his fortunes, and see the workings of his heart, all in the care of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The reader will be touched by the poignancy of the love these characters share for each other, and inspired by the simple devotion of Mr. Oliver to his Master. Hesba Stretton has written of similar situations and conditions to those of Charles Dickens, but while his works are dark and depressing, hers are serious, yet bright with hope. When Mr. Oliver takes his dying Dolly to the charity children's hospital, and is told there is no room for her, he cries, "Dear Lord, there's room for only seventy-five of Thy little lambs that are pining and wasting away in every dark street and alley like mine. Whatever can Thy people be thinking about? They've got their own dear little children, who are ill sometimes, spite of all their care. They can send for the doctor, and do all that's possible, never looking at the money it costs. But when they are well again they never think of the poor little ones who are sick and dying, with nobody to help them or care for them as I care for this little one. Oh, Lord, Lord! Let my little love live! Yet Thou knows what is best, and Thou'lt do what is best. Thou loves her more than I do."

A book for young and old, this will touch the reader's heart, and may change his life.

The Amazing Butterfly

Full text of gospel tract:

Did you know . . . ?
. . . that butterflies taste with their feet?
. . . that butterflies don't have noses? They smell with their antennae!
. . . that butterfly wings are covered with tiny scales? Different colored scales make up the pretty patterns we see.
. . . that butterflies are cold-blooded? The dark colors on their wings help them absorb the heat from the sun.
. . . that some butterflies wear camouflage? The wings of many butterflies have colors and patterns that blend in with their natural surroundings to protect them from predators.
. . . that butterflies can see ultraviolet light? Some scales on butterfly wings reflect light that is invisible to humans. Butterflies use these ultraviolet patterns to recognize each other.
. . . that a butterfly's mouth is like a drinking straw? That's because butterflies only eat liquid foods, like nectars from flowers or fruit. The mouth, called a proboscis, stays rolled up until it's time to eat.
. . . that a butterfly wasn't always a butterfly? Every butterfly starts as a tiny egg that hatches into a caterpillar. The caterpillar grows and grows until it's time to build a hardened shell around its body, called a chrysalis. While the caterpillar sleeps inside the chrysalis, its body changes and grows new parts. When it comes out, it has become a butterfly, quite a different creature than a caterpillar!
AMAZING!
Did you know that you can become a new creature, too? You may not grow wings and learn to fly, but God can give you a new life. Do you sometimes do things that make you feel bad inside? Maybe you were mean to someone at school or told a lie to your parents. God calls those bad things sin. Everyone is born knowing how to sin, and everyone who sins must be punished. But God, who loves us, doesn't want us to sin. He wants us to be like Him–loving, kind, and good. Just as a caterpillar becomes a more beautiful butterfly, God can help you become more like Him. God sent his only Son, Jesus, to earth to be a human, just like us, except Jesus never sinned. Even so, He chose to die so that He could pay the death penalty for our sins. Three days after He died, God raised Him back to life again!
Do you want to have a clean, new life? Then just believe in what Jesus did for you. Tell God that you are sorry for your sins and thank Him for sending Jesus to save you. The Bible says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). God will change you on the inside to make you a new, glorious creature–just like a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. To do this, you can pray something like this:
Dear God, I am sorry for the bad things I do. Thank You for sending Jesus to pay the penalty for my sins. Please change me on the inside and help keep me from sin so that I can live a clean and beautiful life for You. Amen.
If you have just prayed to ask God to change you, write your name and address on the lines below and send it to us. We will send you a free booklet to help you grow in your new life with Christ.

Can I be Forgiven?

Full text of gospel tract:
In an out-of-the-way cemetery an unmarked tombstone bears the single word, Forgiven. A person can’t help wondering, who was forgiven and by whom? What happened that caused someone to leave that message forever engraved upon his tombstone?
The secret of that tombstone has long been buried. But one thing is certain, the need for forgiveness will always exist, since we all fail to live up to our word and others’ expectations of us at one time or another.
What is more serious is that we have failed to live up to what God expects of us! No one is able to perfectly keep God’s commandments. The Bible states it simply, “all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “Your iniquities [sins] have made a separation between you and your God” (Isaiah 59:2). Our disobedience separates us from our Creator. We need his forgiveness.
But how can we know that God will forgive us? How could a perfectly just and righteous God overlook our sin? Our situation would be impossible if God had not settled the issue himself. He sent his Son—Jesus Christ—to earth to become a man, live a perfectly sinless life, and ultimately give his life for you and me.
On the cross where Jesus died, he took the punishment for sin that we deserved. The Bible says God made Jesus to be sin for us, the One “who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Then Jesus rose from the tomb and came back to life three days later and was seen by hundreds of people (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

Can I Be Sure?

Because of what Jesus has accomplished, it is possible to know that God will forgive you and one day receive you into heaven (John 14:1-3). You can have the assurance of God’s forgiveness by making the following choices:
  • Recognize that your sins have separated you from God. In honest repentance agree with God about your sinfulness and admit your need for forgiveness: “If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
  • Realize that God loves you, and believe that the sinless Jesus Christ died for your sins—taking the punishment you deserve: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
  • In response to your trust, God promises you eternity with him! Receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith as your Savior from sin’s consequences. When you respond to God’s offer of forgiveness in faith, you can know that he has forgiven you. God’s Book, the Bible, promises that “to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
If that is your heart’s desire, right where you are you can pray something like this:
Dear God, I know that I have sinned against many people and against you. I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me and arose from the dead. I invite him into my life to be my Savior. Thank you for your gift of forgiveness and eternal life.
Are you forgiven?

You're One of a Kind

Full text of gospel tract:
There’s no one in the whole world just like you! You don’t need to wear a costume or do anything different to be one-of-a-kind. You’re already special and unique, every day of the year.

No one else talks like you and thinks like you. From the top of your head down to your toes, no one else looks exactly like you. No one even has fingerprints exactly like yours. God is such a wise Creator that He designed a different set for each person. He never has to use the same ones twice. God knows all there is to know about you—what you look like, your personality, your sense of humor—everything! How cool is that!

But that means God also knows everything—including the bad things you do and say! In fact, the Bible says that since we all have done bad things—called “sins”—there are very serious consequences. Even worse, there’s no way we could ever repay God to make up for our disobedience and sins.

But the God who created us in the first place loves us—including one-of-a-kind you!—so much that He sent His perfect Son Jesus to earth to take our punishment and pay the penalty for our sins that we could never pay. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son [to die for us], that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). After Jesus died for us He came back to life and a few weeks later He returned to heaven.

God wants you to be a member of His family so He can help you make good choices and do and say the right things each day. And He wants you to live forever with Him in heaven someday. For this to happen and for your sins to be forgiven, you must first agree with God that you have sinned. Then you need to accept God’s offer to let Jesus be your substitute—the one who took the punishment for your sins. You can tell Him in a prayer like this:

Dear God, I admit that I’ve sinned many times. I truly believe that Your Son Jesus died to take the punishment I deserved because of my sins. I accept Your offer to forgive me and to give me life that lasts forever. Thank You for loving me!”
